It's been such a long time since I came here, but I do recall clearly many many of the times I spent with you all. Arm wrestling, soccer, sentosa outings, and just randomly hanging out after classes. (this is Gary by the way)

There was something that suddenly made me want to dedicate a few minutes to think back of the 2D of 2006.

It's really amazing how fast time passed...
I set my iTunes on shuffle, and seasons in the sun came on..
Got hit by the strongest wave of nostalgia in quite some time.
Looking back at the times I spent with my friends in 2D, those were some of the best times of my life. Amazingly, everyone loved he class and wanted to be a part of it!

It is quite amazing how we are still having outings regularly... But nevertheless, even when i went back to look at old photos- west Malaysia trip, and the old 2D blog, it occurred to me that the joy of those times were already sealed away in our memories.

I'm very thankful to have spent 1.5 years with you guys.. Is it just me being strange, feeling a sense of loss when I look back? A bittersweet feeling fills my heart :)

and here i am. to blog it for those who haven't seen it yet.

Golden bands of promise

First day of school

I stared at him. He stared back at me, eyes quizzical. I searched his face for reassurance but found none. Taking a deep breath, I nodded and continued to walk on, mummuring “Left, right, left, right…”
“Hold on! You’re walking too fast. I can’t catch up. We must work together in order to reach the finishing line.” I panted.
“Sorry, my legs are longer than yours so it’s natural I would walk faster.” He said with amusement crinkling in his eyes. “Hey! I’m not short! You’re too tall!” I retorted in indignation. “Okay, okay…relax. Ready?” he asked, eyes questioning.
“Ready.”
I let out a deep breath and lifted my left foot as we continued.
“Left, right, left, right…”
After what seemed like eternity, we finally reached the finishing line. We lost but amazingly, I found it hilarious that we lost. Giggling, I asked, “My name’s Melissa. What’s yours?” The corners of his mouth curved upwards as he replied in a deep tone, “My name’s Spencer. Unlucky aren’t we? Of all the people, we got chosen to take part in this three-legged race and came in dead last.” Shaking his head, I could see his eyes betraying his voice. He was controlling his laughter while I, laughed even louder at his failed attempt to act disappointed.
Finally, he gave in to hilarity. Clutching his stomach, he bent down and laughed and laughed and laughed.

One and a half years later

“You’re joking right?”
He stared at the floor; showing me his black hair matted with sweat, hinting the aftermath of a soccer game. I watched him intently, trying to catch every nuance of expression etched on his face. He blinked slowly & looked up. And that was when it dawned on me that for the first time, he was not smiling. I stared at him while he stared back at me. It was as if the whole world stopped; as if the whole world was revolving too fast making it unbearable.
“When?” I inhaled a deep breath as I waited for his answer.
Silence enveloped us. Please say you’re joking.
“Last week of July.” And with that, he stared at the floor again and walked away slowly, leaving me alone.
Alone- No. Please say you’re joking.
I swallowed and softly said, “Good luck.”
Tears clogged at my voice and I tried to swallow it down.
I had to ask.
“Wait! When exactly are-” but he had already left.

I need to talk with you again.
Why did you go away?
All our times together,
Just feels like yesterday.

Three more days

“We must win this cheering competition! For 2D, for Spencer!” I shouted to the sea of faces staring at me. They nodded, afraid to speak. I nodded back, afraid to speak too. Containing all the tears blurring our vision inside was harder than we thought.
If we speak, all the tears would just keep on flowing, never relenting. So we nodded and nodded, swallowing back all the sorrow welling up in our eyes. Then, after what seemed like eternity or could have just been one minute, we craved for the release. We shook our heads violently, as mummurings of “I can’t take it anymore…” filled the tense air. It came out as long, heartbreaking sobs. He stood there and stared at us.
“Don’t cry.” He said with an undertone of sadness.
We just kept shaking our heads, turning our backs to face him and continued crying. All the time, hiding the unshed tears standing on the fringe of our lashes was much too unbearable. Unbearable.
Please say you’re joking.
“Here.”
“No than-” but he had already stuffed the tissue in my hand and left. Again.

I never thought I’d see,
A single day without you.
The things we take for granted,
We can sometimes lose.

“One…two…three! WE LOVE SPENCER FOREVER!” Chorused by one united voice, shouted by one class, cried by one we.

One more day

I slipped off my flip-flops, wiggled my toes into the warm sand, and smiled. The sun was already blazing overhead when we reached there and a shift in the wind had banished all the flies.
“Yup, today’s a good day.” I whispered to myself in reassurance.
“Hey, Spencer! What do you want to do first? Swim or play volleyball?” we shouted to him.
He turned and smiled.
“How about volleyball and swimming at the same time?”
His feet pounded against the sand as he ran along the edge of the lapping surf, “Come on!” He said as he dragged me into the water, laughing.
We played and played and played.
Never stopping. Afraid to stop and take a rest because the moments we have left together were far too precious, far too valuable.
Our laughter floated across the beach on a brisk sea breeze.
Somehow, we could all hear the sadness tainting our laughter.
Our laughter mocking back at us for pretending to laugh.
Oh, the irony.

And if I promise not to feel this pain,
Will I see you again?
Will I see you again?

D-day

I hugged the worn out football tightly to myself.
He loved football; his passion.
Tears seeped from under my lashes as I stared at the football, at my knuckles turning white from holding on too tightly, at my regret for not being able to see him off- for one last time.
“Hey, don’t cry. He’ll return.”
“I want to send him off.”
“Okay. I’ll see to it. No worries.”
Eyes hopeful, I looked up and gave a slight smile.

22 minutes more…

We ran and ran and ran, “Please let us be in time.”
“Spencer!”
Turning, his eyes widen in surprise as he greeted us.
“How did you guys—?”
“Honey, we gotta go. The gate’s closing.”
“I’ll be in a sec, mom.”
I held out my hand, “All the best, Spencer.”
His hand was warm.
“I promise to return. Just like the sun’s rays, golden bands which promise to shine everyday.”
I smiled.
He smiled back.

We used to have conflicts…

Now we work under the name of love and unity…
Now we go around as a department…

The end of the year, the end of our time. The time has come, for us to say goodbye. Lucky ones may not part, but for some, memories may be all that is in our heart.
I remember, our first day, our 1st triumph when we won the quiz/poster competition. The teamwork, the unity that we had, ahh...good times.
I remember, our first class outing, a bbq at pasir ris park. We did not manage to start a fire by ourselves, in the end we had to buy lighted charcoal from the satay man. We cycled alot, from here to there. Still remember, i and jh went together in my father's car, when we met jon and the rest at a bus stop and gave them a lift. haha the few of us squeezing in the back of a 5 seater. I still remember, after the bbq, i gave 7 ppl a lift to commonwealth, imagine, 7 pple squeezed into a small little sedan car, haha, my leg was in pain when I reached home.
I remember our EOYs in 2005. The few of us formed a study group and made notes for each other. Instead we did anything but study much. Altho we still did notes, but it wasnt as fun anymore...seems like the 1st is always the best.
I remember IU day, 9 of us came to my house to bake cookies. lol, i let u use my house and u repay me by suaning me the whole day. Stayed on till around 8, and the remaining cookies were done by my mother. Had a big scolding later. the day itself, we were singing, making tea, playing soccer, chess, arm wrestling, serving cookies..ahh the fun.
I remember our 1st chalet. 2 days and 1 night. Did not even sleep, busy playing Halo. Went bowling too, but we lost to the girls. I remember some punks threw our shoes around and my shoe went to the roof, i remember saying fuck at the top my voice, even when miss cheang was around. Went to escape after that, and i remember our 1st completed attempt on the haunted house.
2005, filled with happy memories...of which i will never forget.
2006, secondary 2...2d'06.
Our forums were long dead, a blog came in its place..
much less homework, much more slacking.
soccer became a more popular sport
my nightmare began
rendy lee and li jie.
me and my mouth.

I remember project million lotus.
Busy folding during lessons
teachers pissed off.
staying back after school to fold.
folding, folding and more folding.
folding and chatting, folding and chatting...

I remember....
a new site, a new place, a new room
a new seating..
a much hated one..
sabo-ed by u guys..
ended up in 1 1/2 terms of suffering..
why do u not see
how much i hated it
and yet
.....

Alas, one of us had to part early.
Spencer left
we all wept
a day at sentosa
volleyball, soccer and swimming
throwing sand balls
missing the photo =.=
Beating the clock to get to the airport
bidding our last adieus
more crying
more weeping..

Remember, remember the 18th of october..
the learning and arts festival.
paper folding and stage performing.
days of practice and preparing..

2 more days, to cherish and enjoy.
cherish the last moments we have together..

do you all really want a class outing ? cus i mean ya exams are coming & i think u all want to study but u cant concentrate lols. so if we haf a class outing we will b really tired & mebbe sick. but the weather's rather rainy these few days. mebbe we wont haf a lot of fun if we go.. but we can haf one during nov / dec ! that we can enjoy ourselves alot alot alot. exams are over and we can get sick for 2 months nobody cares :D

I stil prefer SAFRA resort leh, so long nvr go dere le...
Dere vry nice lor, we stay in bungalow, 2 storey de. Den got swimming pool, got gym, got bbq pit, n is near the coast, got great view of the sea n sunrise n sunset...Oni thing is dere quite pian pi la, n i 4got where isit, jus rmb its arnd Changi dere...
Hav to book early, so if majority agrees sooner, the more chance we hav to book...Rmb hols go talot of ppl book de!
Prices not sure yet, later den inform again...

Farewell speech to spencer.

As his group member/leader for almost every project. i guess i can safely say i worked with him more than any1 of u(xcept jh and des), so its onli befittng that i write this speech.
Spencer, a great and lovable boy with a great sense of humour and superb soccer skills. His leaving is a great loss to 2d. Even tho he will be back, who knows, he will never be the same spencer we know. Time passes, people change, get over it.
He was a good friend. he was one of the 1st frens i knew in RV. I recall the times when we commented on stuffs during assembly cuz hes just sitting behind me. tts how i knew him and we soon became good friends.
As his group member, he has brought fun into our group meetings. Even though he din really contribute much to most of our projects >.>

Lastly for all of you. Yes, he is leaving for Vietnam, BUT, he'll onli be there for 2 years, hee WILL be bac. Moreover, hes still comin back for the new year and during hols >.> You may cry, and fall into a state of dispair. But think about it, will HE want to see you like this, will he be happy? You may feel sad, but dun take it too far. Get over it.

lastly. SPENCER RAWK ON DUDE!

juz got soccer match wuth 2K ytd...
overall very fun,
n we won 3-2 XD haha...

we won in the end,
but everyone, i mean EVERYONE, was not on form ytd...
jun wen missed a keck lot of oppoturnities,
jian howe let in 2 easy goals, X(
but in the end we still won,
all thanks to
spencer-1 goal,
jing yi-2 goals
n dun 4get me too =P- 5 saves

i actually played striker at 1st,
but jh was not playing well, so i sub him,
n jw came as striker...
then in the last few mins,
finally managed to replace jw,
n brought in our secret weapon....

PXM!!! hahaha!!!
btw he fouled 5 seconds when he came in =P...
breakdancing over the court lor... he injured his knee too...
he use it as excuse not 2 come sch 2dae =P pity...
but we WON!!!

haha few a little bit sympathatic toward the other team too...
they got 3 players go lanshop,
so had 2 let us reduce players too...
n their captain injured lor... maybe they are not on form either... duno lar...
but we won,
they want rematch, but most likely not gona give it to them =P
